The essay I like the most is The Suitcase Lady. I choose it
because the way the author writes it
makes me have resonance. I felt the suitcase lady’s feeling and I felt compassion
and bad for her.
I like the description of the suitcase lady. “Somewhere
in her bleary eyes and in the deep lines of her face is a story that probably
no one will ever really know.” This description shows her emotions and
experiences are sad, she is lost and she has nowhere to go. “She has swollen ankles and, with no socks in
her boot, she has blisters.” This tells her health condition is not good, but
sadly, nothing she can do to change it.
“’God takes care of me, that’s for sure,’ she
says, nodding thought fully.’ … I believe always try to do the best to help
people – the elderly, and kids, and my country, and my city of Toronto, Ontario
” This is what she says. It is irony and makes suitcase lady even more tragic because
she thinks God takes care of her but she is living a miserable life; she try
her best to her country, her city, but she can not even find a place within it.
I feel sad for her because her life ended up with nothing but her dream which is not going to come true after everything she has been through.
